Free To Air Satellite with Analogue TV for Irish Stations

Many of the UK TV channels are Freely available at no extra cost via Satellite. This is advertised in the UK as FreeSat. To continue receiving Irish channels then all you will need to do is to buy a Saorview Approved set top box. You may also need a rooftop aerial if you current do not have one. There are a number of FTA Satellite combi boxes available but none have been approved for Saorview, if you are planning to buy such a box wait for an approved Saorview one to come on the market. It is important to make sure your equipment is saorview approved.

According to ComReg (Ireland's Communications Regulator) as of May 2012 just 12% of have access to some form of Satellite TV (excluding Sky TV). No figure is given to those which rely on Analogue for Irish TV channels, however as of May 2012 18.7% of consumers still rely on Irish Terrestrial TV, which is due to switch off on October 24th, 2012.
