4 TV LAND
You will need to obtain new equipment. If you only wish to retain the Irish Channel then all you will need to do is to buy a Saorview Approved set top box. You may also need a rooftop aerial if you current do not have one and if you currently are unable to receive TG4 and TV3 (VHF Aerials will not work with Digital).
The Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has told Analogue channels to place a BUG on screen with the date of ASO and an X to denote that theses services will be turning off on October 24. TV3 has yet to implement such BUGs.
Saorview also has a message appearing on screen for 20 seconds on each channel advising that the channel will close down and that viewers should visit Saorview's web site for more information or contact the helpline 1890 222 012.
According to ComReg (Ireland's Communications Regulator) as of May 2012 18.7% of consumers still rely on Irish Terrestrial TV, which is due to switch off on October 24th, 2012.
