The channel had 10% share of the audience in August 2021. The post match analysis of the All Ireland Hurling Semi-Final was the most watch programme of the month with 887,800 on August 14th. RTÉ2 will hope to retain its summer time audience in September with continued coverage of the final of the GAA Football championship. Overall RTÉ held 27% of the audience, while Virgin Media Television retained 18%.

RTÉ2 after seeing its best audience share of the last 3 years has seen its share increase again in July as the Euros came to an end and the Olympics began. The channel had 12.18% share of the audience in July 2021. The final of the Euros between England and Italy had an average of 941,300, this compares to 898,100 in 2016 when the final was broadcast on both RTÉ2 and TV3 (now Virgin Media one). In June 2016 RTÉ\'s coverage of the Euro final had 782,100 while TV3\'s had 116,000 viewers. RTÉ2 will hope to retain its summer time audience in August with continued coverage of the GAA championships and the Olympic Games. Overall RTÉ held 30% of the audience, while Virgin Media Television had 18%.

RTÉ2 has seen its best audience share in the last 3 years, it last hit double digits during the world cup 2018. The channel had 11.85% share of the audience in June 2021, this was helped by the Euros 2020. In 2016 the games were split between RTÉ and TV3. The most watch programme was England V Scotland on June 18th with 547,700 viewers. Virgin Media one\'s Love Island\'s had 277,000 on June 30th. In June 2016 RTÉ2 had an audience share of 11.67%, while TV3 (now Virgin Media one) had 9.23%. RTÉ2 will hope to retain its June\'s audience share with continued coverage of the Euros, GAA championships and the Olympic Games in July. Overall RTÉ held 30% of the audience, while Virgin Media Television had 17%.

TG4 has seen its best audience share in the last 7 years. The channel had 2.74% share of the audience in May 2021, it previous best was in April 2017 when it achieved 2.67%. Meanwhile, RTÉ2\'s audience has dipped back to 4.5% audience share in May, the channel will expect to gain a large audiences over the next few months with its coverage of the GAA championships, Euros 2020 and the Olympic Games. Overall RTÉ held 25% of the audience, while Virgin Media Television had 18%.

RTÉ2 has dipped back below 5% audience share, the boost last month by the royals and sport failed to help them make ground. Overall RTÉ saw 2% decrease month on month and a 8% decrease year on year. As the Six Nations ended on Virgin Media Television its audience also departed in April giving them a monthly drop of 13% but a 16% increase year on year. Overall RTÉ held 26% of the audience, while Virgin Media Television had 19%.

Oprah\'s interview with the young British royals achieved the most watched programme on Irish TV with 836,500 viewers tuning into see the couple talk about life after royalty. Along with World Cup Qualifiers it helped RTÉ2 increase its audience share by 33%, however RTÉ2 only achieved a 5% share of the audience across the month. Overall RTÉ saw 3% increase month on month but a 10% decrease year on year. Virgin Media Television\'s coverage of the Six Nations continued in March giving them no monthly change but a 27% increase year on year. Overall RTÉ held 27% of the audience, while Virgin Media Television had 21%.
