Euros Score High for RTÉ2
RTÉ2 has seen its best audience share in the last 3 years, it last hit double digits during the world cup 2018. The channel had 11.85% share of the audience in June 2021, this was helped by the Euros 2020. In 2016 the games were split between RTÉ and TV3. The most watch programme was England V Scotland on June 18th with 547,700 viewers. Virgin Media one's Love Island's had 277,000 on June 30th. In June 2016 RTÉ2 had an audience share of 11.67%, while TV3 (now Virgin Media one) had 9.23%. RTÉ2 will hope to retain its June's audience share with continued coverage of the Euros, GAA championships and the Olympic Games in July. Overall RTÉ held 30% of the audience, while Virgin Media Television had 17%.
TG4 had an audience share of 2%.
RTÉ ONE saw a monthly decrease in audience of 14%, it had an audience share of 16%, down 19% from June last year.
RTÉ2 saw its share increase 159% from last month, achieving 12% share, it was up by 211% from June 2020. This change largely due to coverage of sports.
RTÉ ONE +1 and RTÉjr had 1.13% and 0.39% respectively. RTÉ2 +1 had 0.22% in June.
Virgin Media one's audience share was 11% in June, an increase of 1% from May, and a 9% increase year on year.
Virgin Media TWO has a 3% share, down 16% from last month and down 4% from June 2020.
Meanwhile, Virgin Media THREE was at 3%, down 3% from May but up 80% from June 2020. Virgin Media one +1 had an audience share of 0.30%.
eirSport1 saw its audience increase to 0.09%, while Virgin Media Sport had 0.09%.
English channels had 51% share of the audience in June 2021.
