Corna News Pushes TV Ratings Up in Feburary

News of the general election and the cornavirus have seen both RTÉ ONE's and VMT ONE's audience share increase dramatically. RTÉ's total TV audience for Feburary 2020 was 29%,it was up 7% from January, and up 14% from February 2019. Virgin Media had an average audience of 18% an increase of 11% since January, but down 3% from February 2019.


TG4 had an audience share of 2%, while eir Sport 1 had 0.24%.

RTÉ ONE made a monthly gain of 8%, it had an audience share of 23% up 21% from this time last year, helped by RTÉ's coverage of both the General Election 2020 and subsequent news of the corona-virus.

RTÉ2 was up 5% since last month, with little or no news on the channel it had a 5% share, it was down by 12% from December.

RTÉ ONE +1 and RTÉjr had 1.12% and 0.41% respectively. RTÉ2 +1 had 0.19% in February 2020.

Virgin Media one had an audience share of 13%, a 15% increase from January again helped by its coverage of the General Election and the corona-virus outbreak, however it did see a 4% decrease from February 2019.

Virgin Media TWO lost Love Island to its sister channel, however this didn't stop the channel getting a 3% share, down 2% from last month. It was down 6% from February last year.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media THREE stayed at 1.53%, up 1% from January and down 3% from February 2019. Virgin Media one +1 had an audience share of 0.29%.

While Virgin Media Sport had an audience share of 0.27%.

English channels had 54% share of the audience.
