Six Nations Boost for Virgin Media TV

February's Six Nations Kick off has given Virgin Media TV its highest audience share since the Rugby World Cup 2015. Ireland V France had an average audience of 798,400 on Virgin Media One, the most viewed programme of the month. In total Virgin Media TV had a 21% share up 15% from last year and 26% month on month, this figure was last achieved across TV3, 3e and UTV Ireland in October 2015. RTÉ saw a drop of 11% from last year, with a monthly drop of 3%. Overall RTÉ held 26% of the audience.


TG4 had an audience share of 2%.

RTÉ ONE saw a monthly decrease in audience of 4%, it had an audience share of 20%, down 11% from February last year.

RTÉ2 saw its share increase slightly from last month, achieving just 4% share, it was down by 15% from February 2020.

RTÉ ONE +1 and RTÉjr had 1.11% and 0.43% respectively. RTÉ2 +1 had 0.21% in February.

Virgin Media one's audience share was 14% in February, an increase of 36% from January, and a 10% increase year on year.

Virgin Media TWO has a 4% share, up 3% from last month and up 5% from February 2020.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media THREE was at 3%, up 15% from January and up 90% from February 2020. Virgin Media one +1 had an audience share of 0.35%.

eirSport1 saw its audience drop to 0.12%, while Virgin Media Sport had just 0.07%.

English channels had 51% share of the audience in February 2021.
