31,077 Covid Cases Across Ireland Reported in February
The last day of February saw a total of 825 new COVID-19 cases across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 687. In Northern Ireland 138 cases were detected. In total the month of February saw 31,077 cases across the Island. The Republic saw a 78% drop in the number of new cases, while Northern Ireland saw a 72% drop. In total there have been 332,904 COVID cases since the pandemic began in 2020.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 681 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 28th of February, with no deaths reported. Overall 4,319 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for February 27th. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 12,914 cases, UP 32.
A total of 46 Health Care Workers were diagnosed with COVID-19 on February 27th. A total of 27,148 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
A total of 447 Health Care Workers tested positive for COVID for the weekending the 27th of February, this represents 10% of the total COVID cases for that week. 401 people were admitted to hospital during that week, down 137 from the previous week.
February saw a significant drop in cases from January's record of 104,001 cases, 22,720 people were detected to have COVID a drop of 78%. In total 699 covid related deaths were reported, this compares to January's figure of 1,317.
Northern Ireland
The Northern Irish Health Department announced 138 cases. They report 2 COVID related deaths, 2,057 have died in the north since the pandemic began.
15 people were admitted to hospital on the 28th of February. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 8,855.
February saw a significant drop in cases from January's record of 29,756 cases, 8,357 people were detected to have COVID a drop of 72%. In total 196 covid related deaths were reported, this compares to January's figure of 531.
