More Than 20,000 People Admitted to Hospital Since Pandemic Began
Yesterday (9th February 2021) a total of 1,324 COVID-19 cases were detected across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 1,006. In Northern Ireland 336 cases were detected. 313,301 COVID cases have been detected since the pandemic began in 2020, while 20,111 people were admitted to hospital.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 1,006 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 9th of February, with 54 death reported. Overall 3,794 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for February 8th. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 11,674 cases, UP 90.
A total of 79 Health Care Workers were diagnosed with COVID-19 on February 8th. A total of 25,669 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
Northern Ireland
The Northern Irish Health Department announced 336 cases. They report 4 COVID related deaths, 1,957 have died in the north since the pandemic began.
5 people were admitted to hospital on the 9th of February. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 8,437.
