Referendum Commission Announced by Minister

Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan, has Established the Referendum Commission on the Thirtieth Amendment of the Constitution (Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union) Bill 2012.

Ireland is set to vote on the Austerity Treaty on the 31st of May 2012. It will be the only EU country to hold a referendum. Both the UK and the Czech Republic have opted out of the treaty.

The last opinion poll carried out by Red C for Paddy Power showed support for the Treaty among Irish Voters.
