3,861 Covid Cases Across Ireland

3,861 COVID-19 cases were announced across the Island of Ireland tonight. This brings the total cases to 161,062. The HSE and the Department of health announced 1,718 tonight. In Northern Ireland 2,143 cases were detected.


Republic of Ireland

The headline figures show a total of 1,718 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 29th of December, with 13 deaths reported. Overall 2,226 COVID related deaths have been announced.

The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for December 28th. The total number admitted to hospital stands at 5,932 cases, up 12 from the day before.

A total of 26 health care workers were reported to have been infected. A total of 13,316 health care workers have contracted COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Northern Ireland

The Northern Irish Health Department announced 2,143 cases. They report 6 COVID related deaths, 1,311 have die in the north since the pandemic began.

22 people were admitted to hospital on December 29th. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic begain is 5,335.
