Speical Criminal Court Appearances

Three men sent before a sitting of the Special Criminal Court following an investigation by Gardaí into dissident republican activity. In June Gardaí stopped a vehicle on Spring Garden Street, Ballybough in Dublin's Inner City. Initial two men were arrested. The Special Criminal Court is a juryless criminal court, it sits in special circumstances for trails to do with terrorism and organised crime. It comes under some critism as it is juryless and has been used outside of extreme crime.

In June Gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle on Spring Garden Street, Ballybough in Dublin's inner city.

Two men were arrested and detained at Clontarf Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30, of the Offences against the State Act 1939 as amended.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team was sent to the scene. A significant amount of suspected explosives was found in the car.

In a follow up search that took place later, a third man (55 years) was arrested and he was detained at Raheny Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939, as amended.
