Gardaí in Limerick have arrested two male suspects following there inquiries into a fatal hit and run on the Hyde Road in Limerick on Monday, July 1st, 2019. A jeep hit a pedestrian at approximately 4:40am. A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene and Gardaí carried out technical examinations. A black Mitsubishi Shogun failed to stay at the scene of the accident.

An Garda Siochana have apologised to Joanne Hayes for their conduct during the investigation into the murder of a baby in County Kerry in 1984. The baby was discovered by a farmer on a beach in Caherciveen. The investigation lead detectives to Joanne Hayes who had given birth to a baby prior to the discovery but had stated she had not had a baby when she arrived at hospital with problems consistent with having given birth. Joanne Hayes and her family met with Detectives and admitted that she had had a baby but that baby was a still birth and was buried on the family farm, the Detectives refused to believe her and attempted to convict her of the murder of the baby found on the beach in Caherciveen and later suggested that she had had twins with two different men.

Met Eireann are contining to issue Orange and yellow warning for snow and wind across the country. An organge warning has been called in Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Tipperary for tonight (Saturday 9 Dec 2017) and tomorrow at 11pm. Meanwhile, A status yellow warning has been issued for wind in Clare, Galway, Kerry Limerick and Waterford, for tomorrow at 12 noon. Heavy rainfall is expected in Wexford, Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford. With now and ice expected in Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Sligo and Waterford.

The Irish Times have agreed to take control of Landmark media the owners of the Irish Examiner and BeatFM. This will be The Irish Times second entry into the radio market having founding 4fm in the mid-2000s, 4fm's parent company Bay Broadcasting are also due to take full control of Radio Nova, Dublin's Rock music service. The deal includes 2 radio serives based in the south-east, WLRfm (Waterford Local Radio) and Beat (the pop music service for the South East region). Local titles include Waterford Star and News, The Nationalist (Kildare and Laoise), Roscommon Hearld and Western People. Long with online services Recruit Ireland, Breaking News and Bench Warmers. The deal will have to go before The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the Minister for Communications and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) before the transaction is complete.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland have signed to contracts with radio stations covering Limerick and Kilkenny City. Limerick's Live 95FM has retained its licence for Limerick City and County, while new community radio station Community Radio Kilkenny City have also signed a contract with the BAI. The contracts start from October 24th 2017.
