The Irish based drama series from the BBC and Screen Ireland, Normal People, has been nominated for four Emmy awards, which will take place on 20th September 2020. The series nominees are Paul Mescal for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, Lenny Abrahamson for Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special, Sally Rooney and Alice Birch are nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special and The series also received a nomination for Outstanding Casting for a Limited Series, Movie or Special.

RTÉ commissioning unit has published its Annual report for 2018, showing that it spend just over 41,046million euro across TV and Radio on Independent productions. The vast majority of this money went on Factual programming, where they spent €16.5 millons which produced 191 hours of TV, no average €86,300 per hour.

Screen Northern Ireland,the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland and the Canada Media Fund for Canadian/Irish Co-Productions schemes. The announcement was made at the Celtic Media Festival in Aviemore, Scotland, where Canada is guest country at a gathering of media industry leaders of the six Celtic nations.

The Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA), which was established in 1999, has come under fire for the lack of women nominated in a number of categories. Indeed just 3 women were nominated for best actress, with 5 men nominated for best actor. The lack of Irish Film as far as IFTA is concered is also the issue with two films in the best film category co-productions which are not set in Ireland, and yes I agree this is a very strenous arguement that I am putting forward.

Kissing Candice stars Ann Skelly in the title role. Candice is a bored 17 year old epileptic daughter of a small boarder town Garda detective (John Lynch). An over protective father investigating the case of a missing school boy, Caleb (Jason Cullen). Candice dreams of something better and wants to get out of town. She dreams of Conor (Ryan McParland)during an epileptic fit. As a gang of young men attempt to kidnap her, following threatening calls to her father, Conor a member of the gang comes to her rescue.
