1,794 Covid Cases Across Ireland
A total of 1,794 COVID-19 cases were detected across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 1,371. In Northern Ireland 422 cases were detected. 290,584 COVID cases have been detected since the pandemic began in 2020.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 1,371 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 24th of January, with 7 deaths reported. Overall 2,977 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for January 23rd. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 10,303 cases, UP 87.
A total of 176 Health Care Workers were diagnosed with COVID-19 on January 23rd. A total of 22,610 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
A total of 2,993 Health Care Workers tested positive for COVID for the weekending the 23th of January, this represents 20% of the total COVID cases for that week. 1,256 people were admitted to hospital during that week, down 441 from the previous week.
Northern Ireland
The Northern Irish Health Department announced 422 cases. They report 17 COVID related deaths, 1,747 have died in the north since the pandemic began.
20 people were admitted to hospital on the 24th of January. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 7,575.
