2,761 Covid Cases Across Ireland

A total of 2,761 COVID-19 cases were detected across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 2,121. In Northern Ireland 640 cases were detected. 270,844 COVID cases have been detected since the pandemic began in 2020.


Republic of Ireland

The headline figures show a total of 2,121 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 17th of Janurary, with 8 deaths reported. Overall 2,616 COVID related deaths have been announced.

The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for January 16th. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 9,047 cases, UP 129 from the previous day.

A total of 796 Health Care Workers were diagonised with COVID-19 on January 16th. A total of 17,677 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the begining of the pandemic in 2020.

Northern Ireland

The Northern Irish Health Department announced 640 cases. They report 19 COVID related deaths, 1,625 have died in the north since the pandemic began.

136 people were admitted to hospital between the 15th and 17th of January. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 7,006.
