BAI Announced Sound & Vision Funding Round 21

The BAI have given out €5.2 million in funding in round 21 of the second Sound & Vision Fund. The funding comes from the Television Licence Fee. TV3's new soap, Red Rock, has been awarded €800,000 for 18% of its production costs consisting of 104 episodes, while new TV channel UTV Ireland has been given funding for a drama called Pilgrimage and a two part documentary series, hinting at its addition to the Saorview platform. Premium subscription based pay television provider Setanta Ireland continue to be consider for Licence Fee funding even though it is required to be available to 90% of the population. €5.2 million has been award in this round, with the majority going to TV productions.

A total of 19 television productions across a wide variety of genres have been given funding under the Sound and Vision fund. €4.427m total funding was awarded.
