A separate fund was set up by the Department of Communication, Energy and Natural Resources (DCENR) to develop HD services for the channel in 2011, this amounted to €2.71million in additional funding, while more recently DCENR awared €690,000 to TG4 for capital projects in relation to HD content.

TG4 has said that it is in talks with Soarview and 2RN about the provision of TG4HD on the DTT network, however they have not set a date for the launch of TG4 HD on Saorview, they were unable to state that such a development would happen before the end of 2014.

TV3 have yet to launch a HD service on any platform. According to the BAI report into DTT "TV3 appears not to have an appetite for distributing additional channels on the platform so we assume no new offerings from the group on DTT".
