639 Covid Cases Across Ireland

Six hundred and twenty COVID-19 cases have been announced across the Island of Ireland tonight. This brings the total cases to 129,912. The HSE and the Department of health announce 242 new cases in the Republic of Ireland, meanwhile in Northern Ireland 397 new cases were announced.


Republic of Ireland

The headline figures show a total of 242 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 6th of December, with no deaths reported. Overall 2,099 COVID related deaths have been announced.

The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for December 5th. Thirty were healthcare workers. The total number admitted to hospital stands at 5,332 cases, up 7.

18% of all cases for the week-ending the 5th December where healthcare workers, this compares to 13% the week before. In total 368 healthcare workers were reported to have COVID-19, up 131 the previous week.

Northern Ireland

Figures announced by the Northern Irish Health Department show an increase in cases of 397 to 55,444 cases in total. The total admissions to hospital in Northern Ireland is 4,371, up 5.

Northern Ireland recorded nine further deaths. There have been 1,059 COVID related death
