Nearly a Thousand new cases of Covid in NI
Figures announced by the Northern Irish Health Department show an increase in cases of 934 to 12,886 cases in total. The total admissions to hospital is 1,860 (up 5) since the begin of the COVID-19 crisis in Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, in the Republic of Ireland there were Four hundred and sixty-six COVID-19 cases announced tonight. This brings the total cases to 37,063. The HSE and Department of Health also announced full hospital figures for September 30th, thirty-three cases were health care workers. Fourteen people were admitted to hospital. The total number admitted to hospital stands at 3,631 cases.
Northern Ireland recorded one further death. There have been 582 COVID related deaths in Northern Ireland.
The headline figures in the Republic of Ireland show a total of 466 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 1st of October, with one death reported. Overall 1,801 COVID related deaths have been announced.
Full figures for September in the republic of Ireland show that 594 Healthcare workers contracted the illness, or 8% of the total number. 220 people were admitted to hospital in September up from 52 in August. 23 people were reported to have died in September from the virus.
