Perfect Great British Bake Off
Channel 4's decision to pick up the Great British Back Off seems to be paying off as it has retained over 8million viewers each week. The latest viewing figures from BARB show the 3rd episode had 8.1 million viewers, rising to 8.6 million when their time-shift channel is included. The series moved to Channel 4 from BBC in August. Channel 4 entered a multimillion pound 3 year deal with Love, the series producers. The hosts of the show Sue and Mel choose to stay with the BBC, and are expected to return with a new updated version of The Generation Game.
The first episode of the new series reached 9.4million viewers, the second episode was down slightly to 9.2million and followed by a slight drop to 8.6million for the thrid episode. This compares to an average of 13.8million viewers for last years series on BBC ONE. Channel 4 stated they expected to make a profit on the series with just 3million people, so far it has out done this expectation.
Channel 4's next most popular show had just 3.2 million viewers and it was Gogglebox.
Repeats of the show on sister channel 4Seven have gained an average audience of 150,000 viewers.
