Love/Hate Returns for 3rd Season
RTÉ's Love/Hate returned for a 3rd season last Sunday night with an explosive episode. The focus this season will surround drug-lords and their battle with the IRA. Nidge and Co. celebrate a boozy night on St. Patrick's Day. The series opened with violence, sex and drugs on the streets of Dublin. The opening episode saw high viewing figures for RTÉ One with an average of 563,800, while a further 34,200 watched on RTÉ One +1. The RTÉ Player recorded 104,000 streams of the first episode with 82,000 page impression to the LOVE/HATE website since October.
The series has become one of Ireland best loved drama since it began broadcasting in 2010. Created by Stuart Carolan, it stars many major names from the Irish acting world. The first series of the show starred Aidan Gillen (Game Of Thrones, The Wire) and Robert Sheenhan (Foreign Exchange, The Misfits).
The series has won a number of Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs). Stuart Carolan won Best Writer in 2011 and 2012. David Caffery won best director in 2012. Aidan Gillen won best Actor in a TV Drama in 2012. Tom Vaughan-Lawlor won best supporting actor, Denise McCormack won best supporting actress and Isobel Stephenson won best editing in 2012.
