Lón Sa Spéir at TIFF

 

The Toronto International Film Festival has selected Irish Language documentary Lón Sa Spéir (title in English as Men At Lunch) as part of the TIFF Docs section of the Festival. The Festival will run from the to the . Lón Sa Spéir will have its world début at the festival. Lón Sa Spéir tell the story of the men in the iconic photo of workmen taking lunch over New York City in the 1930s.

The film was produced by Éamonn Ó Cualáin for Sónta with financing from Bord Scannán Na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and TG4.

Éamonn Ó Cualáin said: "We have been overwhelmed by the response since its première in Galway and are really excited in bringing the film to an international audience. It is a story of mass immigration and personal struggle, but at its very heart is the journey of two Irish emigrants who went to New York in search of work and became immortalised in the skyline they helped to build".

The documentary is due to be screen on TG4 in the coming year.
