RTÉ Two Dominates with Euro 2012

RTÉ Two's extensive coverage of Euro 2012 continues to attract large viewing numbers. Even as the Republic of Ireland's hopes of qualification into the Quarter Finals were dashed by Croatia, Spain and Italy. Spain landed the final blow to the Irish team with a 4-0 defeat, which push Ireland out of the tournament after just 2 games. Italy were able to qualify for the tournament after a 2-0 win against Ireland, while Croatia's hopes were dashed with a Spanish win, 1-0.  Ireland left the tournament with no wins, no points and a goal difference of -8. Spain and Italy qualify for the Quarter Finals, which begin Tomorrow ( Thursday 21st of June).

On average 930,000 viewers tuned in for Ireland's last match of the tournament against Italy, this compares with 1.1million who tune in for the Spanish match, while Ireland's opening game against Croatia had 1.2million viewer, the highest audience for a live sporting event since 1994.
