514 Covid Cases Across Ireland

The 8th of May saw a total of 514 new COVID-19 cases across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 514 cases. In total there have been 373,576 COVID cases since the pandemic began in 2020. Northern Ireland will no longer update covid case number on weekends or bank holidays, their next update will be on Monday, May 10th.


Republic of Ireland

The headline figures show a total of 415 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 8th of May, with 2 death reported. Overall 4,921 COVID related deaths have been announced.

The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for May 7th. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 14,377 cases, a daily increase of 6.

A total of 7 Health Care Workers were diagnosed with COVID-19 on May 7th. A total of 28,800 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.

Northern Ireland

2,146 have died in the north since the pandemic began.

The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 9,376.

The Northern Irish Health Department will no longer announce COVID numbers on weekends or bank holidays. The next announcement will be on Monday, May 10th.
