698 Covid Cases Across Ireland
The first day of April saw a total of 698 new COVID-19 cases across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 591. In Northern Ireland 107 cases were detected. In total there have been 354,690 COVID cases since the pandemic began in 2020.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 591 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 1st of April, with 8 deaths reported. Overall 4,713 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for March 31st. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 13,627 cases, a daily increase of 34.
A total of 23 Health Care Workers were diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 31st. A total of 28,124 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
In total 921 health care workers were diagnosed with COVID in March or 6% of the total cases reported. In total 643 people were admitted to hospital over the course of March.
Northern Ireland
The Northern Irish Health Department announced 107 cases. They reported one COVID related death, 2,116 have died in the north since the pandemic began.
3 people were admitted to hospital on the 1st of April. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 9,204.
