894 Covid Cases Across Ireland
The 20th of March saw a total of 894 new COVID-19 cases across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 769. In Northern Ireland 124 cases were detected. In total there have been 345,638 COVID cases since the pandemic began in 2020.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 769 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 20th of March, with 2 deaths reported. Overall 4,587 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for March 19th. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 13,255 cases, a daily increase of 36.
A total of 35 Health Care Workers were diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 19th. A total of 27,881 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
The weekending the 20th of March saw an increase in cases of 336 from the previous week, the total number diagnosed was 3,858 between the 14th and 20th of March. A total of 53 people were reported to have died that week, down from 112 the previous week.
Northern Ireland
The Northern Irish Health Department announced 125 cases. They reported 1 COVID related death, 2,104 have died in the north since the pandemic began.
12 people were admitted to hospital on the 20th of March. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 9,105.
The weekending the 20th of March saw a decrease in cases of 215 from the previous week, the total number diagnosed was 1,036 between the 14th and 20th of March. A total of 6 people were reported to have died that week, down 17 from last week. Total numbers attending hospital that week was 53, down 35.
