Covid Deaths Pass 5000 Mark

A total of 1,923 COVID-19 cases were detected across the Island of Ireland. The HSE and the Department of health announced 1,254, bring the republic total to over 100,000 for the month of January. In Northern Ireland 669 cases were detected. 296,971 COVID cases have been detected since the pandemic began in 2020, with 5,028 deaths.


Republic of Ireland

The headline figures show a total of 1,254 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 28th of January, with 47 deaths reported. Overall 3,214 COVID related deaths have been announced.

The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for January 27th. The total number admitted to hospital with COVID-19 was 10,640 cases, UP 90.

A total of 274 Health Care Workers were diagnosed with COVID-19 on January 27th. A total of 23,534 health care workers contracted COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.

Northern Ireland

The Northern Irish Health Department announced 669 cases. They report 22 COVID related deaths, 1,814 have died in the north since the pandemic began.

23 people were admitted to hospital on the 28th of January. The total numbers admitted to hospital since the pandemic began is 7,849.
