bai Enter Contract Negotiations with iRISH tv

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland have announced that they have entered into contract negotiations with Satellite TV provider Teilifís Mhaigh Eo Teoranta the owners of Irish TV. The service is currently available on the Showcase channel on Sky and Free-to-air satellite. The programming is largely aimed at county-by-county events with their events show "County Matters". Irish TV have been actively working to promote the channel. The channel is aimed at the Irish diaspora around the world. The channel also includes many country and western music programmes.

Irish TV currently have a contract with OfCom in the UK and began broadcasting on the 1st of May, 2014 under that contract, it is expected that channel owners Teilifís Mhaigh Eo Teoranta will drop their OfCom licence once the BAI negotiations are complete.

Irish TV has indicated that it has no plans to begin broadcasting on Saorview but they are looking towards providing their services on UPC.
