1,282 Covid Cases Across Ireland
One thousand, two hundred and eighty-two COVID-19 cases have been announced across the Island of Ireland tonight. This brings the total cases to 142,764. The HSE and the Department of health announced 727 new cases in the Republic of Ireland, meanwhile in Northern Ireland 555 new cases were announced.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 727 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 20th of December, with no deaths reported. Overall 2,158 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for December 19th. The total number admitted to hospital stands at 5,615 cases, up 20.
A total of 50 health care workers were reported to have been infected. A total of 12,862 health care workers have contracted COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
The week-ending the 19th of December saw a rise in admisions of 180 up 77 from the previous week, the total reported was 3,357 cases. The total number of Health care workers that contracted COVID was up 100 to 249 from the previous week.
Northern Ireland
Figures announced by the Northern Irish Health Department show an increase in cases of 555 to 62,497 cases in total. The total admissions to hospital in Northern Ireland is 4,939, up 7.
Northern Ireland recorded seven further deaths. There have been 1,203 COVID related deaths.
