1,269 Covid Cases Across Ireland
One thousand, two hundred and sixty-nine COVID-19 cases have been announced across the Island of Ireland tonight. This brings the total cases to 141,484. The HSE and the Department of health announced 764 new cases in the Republic of Ireland, meanwhile in Northern Ireland 505 new cases were announced.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 764 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 19th of December, with 4 deaths reported. Overall 2,158 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health announced full hospital figures for December 18th. The total number admitted to hospital stands at 5,595 cases, up 25.
A total of 41 health care workers were reported to have been infected. A total of 12,812 health care workers have contracted COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
The week-ending the 19th of December saw a rise in cases of 1,418 from the previous week, the total reported was 3,357 cases. There were 34 deaths reported, an increase of 9.
Northern Ireland
Figures announced by the Northern Irish Health Department show an increase in cases of 505 to 61,942 cases in total. The total admissions to hospital in Northern Ireland is 4,888.
Northern Ireland recorded thirteen further deaths. There have been 1,196 COVID related deaths.
The week-ending the 19th of December saw a rise in cases of 557 from the previous week, the total reported was 3,326 cases. There were 72 deaths reported, an decrease of 2.
