Over 100,000 Covid Cases Across Ireland
The Island of Ireland has reached over 100,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. 40% of these cases were confirmed in October. One thousand, two hundred and thirty-seven COVID-19 cases were announced across the Island of Ireland tonight. This brings the total cases to 101,118. The HSE and the Department of health announce 552 new cases in the Republic of Ireland, meanwhile in Northern Ireland 685 new cases were announced. Across the Island of Ireland 52,569 cases were announced in October.
Republic of Ireland
The headline figures show a total of 552 new cases as of 12 midnight on the 29th of October, with two new deaths reported. Overall 1,915 COVID related deaths have been announced.
The HSE and Department of Health also announced full hospital figures for October 29th, twenty-one cases were health care workers. The total number admitted to hospital stands at 4,397 cases, up 20.
The week-ending the 31st of October saw 4,874 cases reported, significantly down from the previous week when 7,166 where reported.
The total number report for the month of October came to 25,405, significantly higher than April's record of 17,460, however the number of deaths due to COVID came to 106 in October, compared with the high of 1,180 reported deaths in April.
Northern Ireland
Figures announced by the Northern Irish Health Department show an increase in cases of 685 to 39,116 cases in total. The total admissions to hospital in Northern Ireland is 2,915, up 43.
Northern Ireland recorded eight further deaths. There have been 716 COVID related deaths in Northern Ireland.
The week-ending the 31st of October saw 5,011 cases reported, down from the previous week when 6,855 where reported.
The total number reported for the month of October came to 27,164 or 70% of the total confirmed cases in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began. Northern Ireland confirmed 135 deaths in October or 20% of all deaths.
