Country Wide Drugs Searches
The Gardaí have carried out nationwide searches following an investigation into an Organised Crime Gang based in Dublin's Cabra. The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB), The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Emergancy Response Units assisted in the armed searches. Gardaí from DMR West and Wexeford Division carried out 24 searches in Cabra, Finglas, Monkstown, Leixlip, Courtown and Gorey.
The searches included private residences and professional offices. Gardaí say they have seized a large number of documents which relate to the proceeds of crime.
During a search of a house in Finglas a quantity of cocaine with a street value of approximately €3,500(subject to analysis) was discovered and a male (37 years) was arrested and is being detained at Finglas Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
