Mayo Murder

The Gardaí in Swinford, Co. Mayo are investigating the death of 31 year old Joseph Deacy. Deacy, from St. Albans, England, was taken to Mayo University Hospital with sever injuries to his head. He was later taken to Beaumount Hospital in Dublin where he was pronounced dead on Sunday evening 13/8/2017.

Joseph Deacy was found by a passer-by outside a house in Gortnasillagh in Swinford, Co. Mayo at 6am on Saturday 12/8/17. Gardaí and Emergency Services attended the scene.

A post-mortem examination was carried out by the State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy and the death is being treated as a homicide.

A forensic examination of the scene has been carried out and an incident room has been established at Claremorris Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed in the case.
