An Garda Siochana have apologised to Joanne Hayes for their conduct during the investigation into the murder of a baby in County Kerry in 1984. The baby was discovered by a farmer on a beach in Caherciveen. The investigation lead detectives to Joanne Hayes who had given birth to a baby prior to the discovery but had stated she had not had a baby when she arrived at hospital with problems consistent with having given birth. Joanne Hayes and her family met with Detectives and admitted that she had had a baby but that baby was a still birth and was buried on the family farm, the Detectives refused to believe her and attempted to convict her of the murder of the baby found on the beach in Caherciveen and later suggested that she had had twins with two different men.

The annual televisied event saw an average audience for the announcement of the winning rose reach 637,000 viewers. Over the course of the two nights the Rose of Tralee had a peak audience of 720,000, while it reached over 1.5 million viewers. Dr. Jennifer Byrne was announced as the 2017 Rose of Tralee on Tuesday night.

The GAA have announced the fixtures for the Quarter and Semi finals to the All Ireland Senior, Junior and Intermediate Men's Football championship. The winners of each of the Junior and Senior provincial football championships are now complete the fixtures for each of the semi and quarter finals have been set by the GAA. Semi-finalist include Castlebar Mitchels, Dr Crokes, St Vincents, Fuerty, Kell and Two Mile House, while Kingdom Kerry Gaels, Ballinderry, John Mitchel's and Emyvale will play in the quarter-final deciders.

Kerry's Eoin Brosan (33) has called it a day. The senior football player with Kerry announced his decision on the Radio Kerry Sport show on Monday. He line out for with Dr Crokes as they claimed a 3-in-row win against Cratoe to hold on to the provincial crown on Sunday. He will remain with Dr Crokes but will not continue with County football. He made his senior début for the county in 2000.
