Day 28: The Fiscal Treaty

With just 3 days left until polling the YES and NO campaigns are getting their messages out there. Sinn Féin has said that Minister Noonan is lying about an even more difficult 2013 budget after a NO vote. Paschal Donohoe and Dominic Hannigan highlighted the need for a YES vote by pointing to the creation of jobs over the last number of weeks. Richard Boyd Barrett says the treaty says nothing about frontline services or growth and that a NO vote is the best option.

Sinn Féin's Pearse Doherty has said that claims by the Minister for Finance that a NO vote would make Budget 2013 more difficult are lies. Pearse Doherty said "Michael Noonan’s claim today that a no vote on May 31st would make next year’s budget tougher is simply untrue. The Minister’s claims are dishonest. The headline targets for next year’s budget have already been agreed by the Government and the Troika."

Paschal Donohoe believes that more jobs will be create with a YES vote. He said that the announcement of 125 jobs in Dublin Central shows in importance of a YES vote for jobs. IDG Direct is one of the world's largest media groups has create 125 jobs, Paschal Donohoe took this opportunity to say "A Yes vote when we go to the polls on Thursday will send a strong message to foreign and indeed indigenous companies that Ireland remains a safe bet for investment and that we take our place in Europe and the stability of the euro seriously."

Labour Party Director of Elections, Dominic Hannigan has highlighted the importance of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) for businesses and for Ireland. He took the opportunity to look at job created in the last few weeks "Just look at the job announcements that we have heard of in recent weeks and months. I want to see these continue, and access to the ESM will help that."

Richard Boyd Barrett TD calls for No Vote on May 31st

Richard Boyd Barrett has called on a NO vote on Thursday, he said at a Press Conference that there is nothing in the ESM that suggests that it will be keeping ATMs flowing or for paying frontline services.
