Eoghan McDermott will not Return to 2FM

RTÉ have confirmed that radio DJ Eoghan McDermott will not be returning to RTÉ. Eoghan McDermott left the broadcaster unexpectedly a number of weeks ago. The statement does not go into detail as to why RTÉ have made this decision, only to say that it is "developing a new direction for the 2FM Breakfast Show". Co-host Doireann Garrihy will remain with the show. Eoghan McDermott has been with the broadcaster for six years, RTÉ 2FM refreshed its schedule in June 2019, moving Eoghan McDermott from his drive time show.

The RTÉ Statement is short and brief failing to go into details about Mr. McDermott's departure. It says  “RTÉ confirms that Eoghan McDermott will not be returning to RTÉ 2FM. His contract is due to expire shortly. RTÉ is developing a new direction for the 2FM Breakfast Show which will be revealed in the coming weeks. Doireann Garrihy will remain with the show.”
