Winter Sports Helps COVID TV

December's sporting finals helped Irish TV to 47% of the TV audience. Down 5% from November 2020 and up 10% from December 2019. RTÉ's average share of the audience was down 2% month-on-month, on an annual basis it was up 13% in December 2020. Virgin Media was down 11% month-on-month, but it was up 9% year-on-year.


TG4 had an audience share of 2%.

RTÉ ONE saw a monthly drop of 5%, it had an audience share of 20%, up 9% from December last year.

RTÉ2 saw no change since last month, as the GAA Championships final stages took place, achieving a 7% share, it was up by 30% from December 2019.

RTÉ ONE +1 and RTÉjr had 1.27% and 0.36% respectively. RTÉ2 +1 had 0.24% in December 2020.

Virgin Media one audience share was 11% December, a 17% drop from November, and a 5% increase year on year.

Virgin Media TWO has a 4% share, up 15% from last month and down 8% from November 2019.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media THREE was at 2%, down 7% from November and up 27% from December 2019. Virgin Media one +1 had an audience share of 0.29%.

eirSport1 saw its audience drop to 0.06%, while Virgin Media Sport retained their share of 0.12% as their rights issues continued.

English channels had 53% share of the audience in December 2020.
