UTV - Press Release

UTV Ireland on The Pulse

UTV Ireland has announced it is to extend its weekly entertainment bulletin from its current 5 minute slot to 30 mins. The new extended version of the show will air each Friday between Coronation Street at 8pm. The series will continue to be sponsored by Diet Coke and presented by Jenny Buckley. The series has constantly earned the channel 200,000 viewers and it expects to replicate this success in its new Friday Night time slot.

Speaking about the newly extended programme, presenter Jenny Buckley said: “I am absolutely thrilled that The Pulse has been extended to half an hour and we are delighted that Diet Coke will continue the journey with us. It has been a hugely enjoyable project to work on and I think we have put a fresh and individual stamp on entertainment reporting. The series producer, Trevor Keegan, and I will continue to develop the programme by introducing new elements to the current format – including a dedicated weekly fashion segment and updates from Nelson Aspen, our US-based entertainment correspondent who will give us all the latest gossip from across the pond. Aside from providing our viewers with the most up-to-date showbiz, movie and fashion news, we will also provide exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Ireland’s favourite soaps, including our very own Coronation Street and Emmerdale. We also have some really exciting interviews lined up for the weeks and months ahead, so watch this space.”

Mary Curtis, Head of Channel at UTV Ireland, added: “From the outset, the aim with The Pulse has been to provide our viewers with an alternative approach to entertainment news and Jenny, along with the production team, have done a fantastic job in growing both The Pulse brand and a strong, loyal following. The show has been a great success since its launch last year. Jenny is a breath of fresh air in front of the camera and we are very pleased to be extending the programme to 30-minutes.”.
