Repossessions Report Published

Minister for Justice and Defence, Alan Shatter T.D., has published a report into Repossessions. An expert group on repossessions was established in September 2013. The group was set up by an agreement with Troika, which was contained in their 9th review of the Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policies (MEFP). The report examined the repossession system in Ireland.

The Expert Group have not recommended any legislative reforms. They recommended that lenders achieve a more effective case management system with harmonised documentation standards and a structured framework for borrowers in repossession proceedings.

The report was made available to Troika in 2013.
