Mayo Stroke Support Group

The Mayo Stroke Support Group is an initiative of the HSE and Croí (a Mayo based charity). The group has announced its new schedule with the first meeting being held in Ballina's Newman Institute on Thursday 30th January from 11:30 to 13:00. Regular meetings will take place on the last Thursday of the month until June, the meetings will alternate between Castlebar and Ballina.

Welcoming the new programme of meetings, Barbara Ginley, Senior Speech & Language Therapist, HSE West, said, “A Stroke Support Group provides vital support and activities for those affected by stroke. Many stroke survivors will identify with feelings of isolation and fear of the future that can follow after they are discharged from hospital. The Mayo Stroke Support Group provides a meeting place for people to come together and share experiences, and access information and advice on living with stroke.”
