The Summit Launch RTÉ'S New Year

RTÉ have launched their spring schedule for 2014. The launch begins tonight at 21:35 on RTÉ ONE as they broadcast the feature length documentary The Summit. The documentary follows a team of mountaineers climbing K2 in 2008. Disaster occurs the team causing the loss of 11 lives. The film uses actual documentary footage and recreations to explain the events.

The new year see the return of Living the Wild Life, Ear to the Ground, Dragons' Den, At Your Service, Masterchef Ireland, Getaways, The Voice of Ireland, Eco Eye, The Zoo, Would You Believe, Operation Transformation and The Voice of Ireland.

New drama includes BBC/Irish Film Board co-production Quirke and RTÉ Drama Amber.

New documentaries include Her Body, Our Babies, Peru Girl, Alzheimer's, Des Bishop's Chinese Revolution, Mean Streets, Building Ireland and A Sovereign People.

New arts programming includes Play Next Door which see 3 Irish writers living in different neighbourhoods and writing a play about each.

Meanwhile there’s much to entertain as Des Bishop learns Chinese, we all get fit with Operation Transformation, we search for The Voice Of Ireland, for MasterChef Ireland and for Ireland’s Fittest Family and we find out How To Be Happy. And with the launch of RTÉ One HD I’m delighted that we are now able to bring our viewers Ireland’s favourite channel in high definition.”
