Tallaght Assault

UPDATE: The man assulted in Tallaght on New Year's Morning 2014 has died from his injuries. Two men in their 20s have been detained in connection with this murder.

A man aged 20 was seriously assaulted in Tallaght in the early hours of New Year's Day 2014. The assault was carried out by a group of suspects. The assault occurred on a pedestrian bridge on the Saint Dominic's road in Tallaght. The injured man was taken to the Adelaide & Meath Hospital, Tallaght and later transferred to Beaumount Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A male, 23 years and a female, 20 years, were arrested, in connection with this investigation and are currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the pedestrian bridge at Priorsgate, Saint Dominic’s road, between 3.30am and 4.30am, Wednesday 1st January 2014, to contact them at Tallaght on 01 6666000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
