Shorts going to Screen with Oscar Successes

The Irish Film Board in association with Screen Cinemas has announced a 'Love Irish Cinema' as part of the St. Patrick's Festival. The series will be shown tomorrow night at 8.20pm.

Short Irish films that have made their way to the oscars will be honoured at the cinema. The Shore, Pentecost, The Crush, Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty, The Door, New Boy, Six Shooter and 50 Precent Grey will all feature.

Martin McDonagh's Six Shooter took home the award for best live action short in '06, while this year's The Shore took home the coveted award. Over the last 10 year's Irish shorts have featured in the best short nominations at the oscars with an impressive eight nominations.
