Drop of 2,000 Seen on Live Register

The live register has seen a drop of 2,000 in August according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The seasonally adjusted figure is 434,400 people unemployed in August 2012. The unemployment rate for the month remained high at 14.7%, unchanged from July.

In unadjusted terms the live register saw 456,256 people signing on in August, an annual decrease of 13,457 (-2.9%). The movement on the live register remains within a small range.

The numbers of men unemployed saw a small drop of 600, while the numbers of women unemployed dropped by 1,300.
