TG4 PUBLISH ANNUAL REPORT 2011
TG4 (Ireland's Irish Language Broadcaster) has published its Annual Report for 2011. TG4 employs 100 people directly, while indirectly supports 300 jobs in the independent production sector. In 2010 it provided €58million to the economy, while supporting some additional 1000 jobs. In 2011 TG4 produced 1615 of original programming (4 and a half hours per day). During the year TG4 received awards for An Píopa, Na Cloigne and 1916 Seachtar na Cásca.
COST
TG4 received €32.75million in 2011 from the exchequer and the licence fee, but saw a 10% drop in advertising sales, from €2million in 2010 to €1.8million in 2011. €3.4million was spent on transmission costs.
AUDIENCE
TG4 had an audience share of 2.1% nationally (4.2% analogue homes and 1.5% multichannel homes). TG4 won between 6% to 9% share of the audience on significant holidays such St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Christmas and Ladies All Ireland Football day.
TG4 HD
TG4 successfully submitted a HD plan to DCENR, which resulted in a supplementary budget to allow TG4 progress TG4 HD, in total €2.71million was given to the company. TG4 HD will launch in September 2012.
