International Focus on Irish Animation

Major Irish animation studios and producers will attend the Annecy International Animation Festival and Market (MIFA). The festival take place in Annecy, France, 6th - 11th June, 2012. The festival is to pay tribute to Irish animation with a number of screenings and events that will have a special focus on the Irish animation industry. Alex Sherwood's The Last Train and Chris O'Hara's A Different Perspective will compete at this years festival.

MIFA the largest animation event in the world. It will also be attended by the major players around the world such as Pixar and Disney. Irish Oscar nominees Cartoon Saloon and Brown Bag Films will also attend, they will be part of a larger Irish group, which will also include Kavaleer, JAM media, Boulder, Keg Kartoonz, Telegael, Dancing Girl Productions, Monster Entertianment and Monster Animation.

Bord Scannán na hÉireann/Irish Film Board (BSÉ/IFB) and Enterprise Ireland will launch a new Irish animation promo and brochure during the festival at events organised by the two agencies. Mr. Paul Kavanagh, Irish Ambassador to France, will be in attendance as a special guest of the festival.

Irish events include "Ireland Presents ... Co-Producing Opportunities with Ireland" and a key note speech by Director Tom Moore (The Secret of Kells). The Screen Directors Guild of Ireland will finish the Irish events with a tribute to Ireland and Irish Directors.
