ESB Issue Referendum Poster Safety Warning

ESB Networks are warning against political posters on electricity poles and structures during the Fiscal Treaty Referendum campaign. They advise that any unauthorized contact or near contact with the electricity networks can result in serious injury or a fatality to people placing posters on such poles and structures. The risk also applies when posters are removed after such elections and referenda.

ESB Networks have experience incidents were election material has caught fire following contact with electricity networks, this has resulted in the loss of supply to customers and damage to important infrastructure.
