Sinead Desmond Leaves TV3 over Pay Equality
Sinead Desmond co-host of TV3 Ireland AM has left the channel following pay difference between her and her male co-hosts, Alan Hughes and Mark Cagney. Sinead Desmond has been host of the long running morning show for 11 years, while Mark Cagney has been host since it started in 1999. Alan Hughes join the programming 15 years ago. Sinead is likely to take her case to court. Possibly for unfair dismissal and pay equality.
Sinead left the show on a temporary basis in August 2017, she has since not returned.
A statement released by Wendy Doyle Solicitors read: “This is now a legal matter between Sinead Desmond and Virgin Media. My client has been trying to resolve this matter since the beginning of the year.”
TV3 have stated "Sinéad Desmond has decided to leave Ireland AM after 11 years working on the show. We would like to thank Sinéad and wish her well for the future."
