Monthly Unemployment October

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6% in October. Down slightly from September, while 2016's figure stood at 7.2%. This represents little change from September according to the Central Statistics Office and a drop of -1.2% on an yearly basis. The number of people unemployed was 133,100, down just 200.

In October 2017 the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.7% for males, down from 6.8% in September 2017 and down from 8.1% in October 2016.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for females in October 2017 was 5.1%, unchanged from September 2017 and down from 6.1% in October 2016.

The seasonally adjusted number of males unemployed in October 2017 was 80,300, down from 82,000 in September 2017. In October 2017 the seasonally adjusted number of females unemployed was 51,000, a decrease of 100 when compared to September 2017.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for persons aged 15-24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 14.0% in October 2017, a decrease from 14.7% in September 2017.
