Unemployment down to 6.4% in May 2017

The Central Statics Office has issued is monthly unemployment statics. The total number unemployed was down just 1,200 from April to 140,000, with a yearly from 183,500 in May 2016.

Unemployment was at 6.4% unchanged from April but down from 8.4% in May last year.

Men continue to have a higher rate of unemployment at 7.1% down from 9.6% in May 2016. Women also saw a fall from 6.9% in May 2016 to 5.5% in May 2017.

Young people had an unemployment rate of 12%.
